Why the Bilstein 8100
Lifted or leveled trucks driven hard off-road that need more oil volume and cooling than a 5160 and, on DSA variants, external compression and rebound adjustment. The Bilstein 8100 for your 2019-2026 Ram 1500 4WD is a 60mm monotube remote reservoir shock; DSA variants add Dual Speed Adjustability (independent low- and high-speed adjusters), ZoneControl R variants add position-sensitive rebound zones. Bilstein's monotube design keeps oil and gas separated by a floating piston, so damping does not fade as the shock heats, and the digressive piston firms up on sharp inputs while staying compliant over small bumps.

Questions
Is this the left or the right side?
This part number is the left (driver) side. The opposite side is a separate part number; order both for one axle.
What lift height is this valved for?
Bilstein lists this part for 0-2 in of lift on this truck. Running it at stock height or well above the range shortens travel in one direction and hurts ride and durability.
Where does the reservoir mount?
The hose is a 360-degree swivel banjo and Bilstein includes a billet clamp; on most trucks the reservoir mounts to the frame near the shock. Check hose routing through full travel and steering before you drive it.
Is the reservoir worth it over a 5100?
If you run long dirt, washboard or high-speed off-road miles, yes: the extra oil volume keeps damping consistent as the shock heats. For pavement and occasional trails a 5100 does the same job for less.
What does DSA mean?
Dual Speed Adjustability: separate external adjusters for low-speed and high-speed damping so you can firm up body control without harshening small bumps. ZoneControl R variants also add position-sensitive rebound zones.
How long does installation take?
Rear shocks are a 20 to 30 minute job per side with hand tools. Front strut-type shocks need a spring compressor and take one to two hours per side.
What is the warranty?
Two-year limited warranty (Bilstein North America). Bilstein warranties are non-transferable and processed through the original place of purchase, so keep your Hannah Suspension order confirmation.
