How this leveling kit works

This is not a spacer kit and it does not include new springs. The lift comes from the Bilstein 5100 ride height adjustable strut. You transfer your factory coil springs and upper mounts onto the new struts and set the lower spring seat in one of the snap-ring grooves on the strut body. The most common F-150 settings are 1.75 in and 2.1 in; both level the truck with the factory rear. The 5160 rears are direct replacements for the factory rear shocks with an external reservoir for more oil, more heat capacity and no fade on washboard or under load.

  • You reuse: factory coil springs, upper strut mounts, isolators and mounting bolts
  • You replace: both front strut and damper assemblies, both rear shocks
  • You need: a spring compressor (or a shop) to move the coils, and an alignment after install

Why this kit

This is the step up from the plain 5100 level kit for owners who tow, run heavier tires, or drive dirt and washboard. The front is identical: a 5100 strut with 46mm monotube damping and the lift built in, so nothing sits on top of a worn factory strut. The rear moves to the 5160, the same digressive 5100 valving with a remote reservoir that keeps the shock cool and consistent on long grades and rough roads. This is the setup F-150 forum members who started with 5100 rears most often upgrade to.

Questions

Which front setting should I use?

Most 2015-2020 F-150 owners run 1.75 in for a level stance with a little rake left for towing, or 2.1 in for dead level on a crew cab. Heavier trims still sit slightly nose-down at 2.1; a 1 in rear block fixes that.

Do I need a spring compressor?

Yes. The factory coil transfers to the new strut, which needs a compressor or a shop. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours per side for the fronts, 30 to 45 minutes per side for the rears with the reservoir bracket, and an alignment afterward.

Where does the reservoir mount?

The 25-311372 comes with a bracket that mounts the reservoir to the frame near the shock. No drilling on most trucks.

Do I need upper control arms?

Not at the 2.1 in maximum this strut provides. Aftermarket UCAs become worth considering above about 2.5 in of front lift.

What is the warranty?

Limited lifetime warranty on all four dampers through Bilstein North America, processed through the original place of purchase. Keep your Hannah Suspension order confirmation.
