Why this kit

This is the kit for the owner who wants a real suspension upgrade, not just a level. The Bilstein 6112 is a 60mm monotube coilover that ships with its own matched coil springs, so you are replacing the soft factory spring rather than reusing it, and the ride height is set with snap-ring grooves from stock to about 2.5 in of front lift. The bigger piston means more oil, more damping control and far less fade on rough roads or with a heavy front end. Out back, the 5160 remote reservoir shock keeps the rear matched to the front so the truck stays balanced when towing, loaded or off-road. This is the same 6112 plus 5160 pairing Bilstein recommends and the same one that has become the default aftermarket suspension on the half ton platform.

Questions

What is the difference between the 6112 and the 5100 strut?

The 5100 reuses your factory spring inside a 46mm body. The 6112 is a 60mm body with its own springs, so it carries more oil and damps a heavy or lifted truck with far less fade, and it rides firmer and more controlled. If you tow, carry a steel bumper or winch, or drive dirt regularly, this is the one.

How much lift will I get?

Snap-ring grooves on the 6112 body let you set anywhere from stock height to about 2.5 in of front lift. The rear 5160 covers 0 to 2 in of rear lift.

Do I need a spring compressor?

Yes. The 6112 spring must be compressed onto the strut and the factory upper mount transferred. Most owners have a shop assemble the fronts. Plan on 2 hours per side up front, 30 to 45 minutes per side for the rears, and an alignment afterward.

Do I need upper control arms?

At 2 in and above, aftermarket UCAs are strongly recommended to restore ball joint angle and camber range and to stop the factory arm from contacting the larger coilover body at full droop. Below 2 in the factory arms work.

What is the warranty?

Limited lifetime on the 6112 fronts and two years on the 5160 rears, through Bilstein North America, processed through the original place of purchase. Keep your Hannah Suspension order confirmation.
