From ICON

The engineers at ICON Vehicle Dynamics took a different approach to position sensitive performance in our 3.0 front coilover shock. Instead of bypassing a small internal piston at the cost of poor control, road holding, and cornering like a traditional internal position sensitive shock, our shock starts with a true 3" main piston that has robust features such as digressive rebound and flutter stack compression. This combination produces outstanding control, great response, and unparalleled ride performance. To achieve even more control for extreme off-road use, we added an additional internal hydraulic system (much like an external mounted hydraulic bump stop) that produces the extreme forces required during the last 40% of travel to achieve maximum bottom out control. These multiple stages of compression and rebound have been tuned independently to maximize overall performance of the Ford SVT Raptor front suspension. For owners who wish to optimize the ride specific to his or her liking, the front coilover shocks are equipped with an external, "Easy to Adjust" Compression Damping Control Valve, that is effective for the entire stroke of the shock. This compression adjustment valve offers you 10 high resolution settings, each bringing a true feel difference from soft to firm.

Why this Stage 4 Suspension System

An ICON suspension system is a matched package: ICON tunes every component in the box for the 2010-2014 Ford F-150 Raptor together, so lift height, spring rate and damping arrive as one calibrated setup instead of parts collected from three brands. Higher Stage numbers add components (upper control arms, rear shocks, leaf or coil springs, adjusters) on the same base system.

Questions

IR, RR, PB: what is the difference?

IR is an internal reservoir, a self-contained monotube body. RR is a remote reservoir connected by hose and PB is a piggyback reservoir bolted to the body; both add oil volume and cooling so damping stays consistent on long rough sections. IR is lighter and simpler; RR and PB resist fade.

CDCV, CDEV, CDXS: which adjuster?

CDCV is a 10-position manual compression knob. CDEV is an electronic compression valve controlled by the ICON Intelligent Control module and phone app, which reads speed and terrain and adjusts on the fly; it requires the IIC install kit. CDXS is a manual dual-circuit adjuster with 10 marked detents each for compression and rebound. Shocks without a code run ICON's fixed vehicle-specific valving.

Can these be serviced?

Yes. Every ICON shock and coilover is rebuildable and revalveable through ICON factory shock service. The shock warranty is 12 months against manufacturing defects.

What does the Stage number mean?

Stage 1 is the base system for this truck and each higher Stage adds components on top of it: upper control arms, rear shocks or springs, adjusters. The exact contents vary by platform and are listed in ICON's description above.

Do I need an alignment?

Yes. Any change to front ride height requires a four-wheel alignment after installation.

Who installs it?

ICON requires professional installation and does not cover failures caused by improper installation. Plan on a shop with a lift and an alignment rack for anything that changes ride height.

Why is this special order?

ICON builds most systems and shocks to order in Riverside, California. We confirm ICON's current lead time with you before the order is placed and you can cancel before it ships.
