Why this kit
The four-shock Bilstein 5100 set for the GM heavy duty trucks with torsion bar front suspension. The 24-253161 front covers a stock truck and one with the torsion bars turned up as far as 1.5 in, and the 24-196468 rear covers 0 to 1 in of rear lift. Both are 46mm Bilstein monotubes with velocity-sensitive digressive valving and a limited lifetime warranty. This is the usual upgrade for a 2500HD or 3500HD that tows or carries weight and has worn out its factory shocks, in one order with the front and rear part numbers already matched.

Each shock ships in its own Bilstein box. Kit price equals the sum of the four shocks at manufacturer minimum advertised price.
Questions
My truck is stock height. Is this kit fine?
Yes. The 24-253161 front is the Bilstein 5100 for a stock-height 2011 and newer GM HD truck and also covers up to 1.5 in of front lift from the torsion bars. The 0 to 1.5 in range does not mean the truck has to be lifted.
5100 or 4600 for a stock truck that tows?
Both are Bilstein 46mm monotubes. The 4600 is valved for a stock-height truck only. The 5100 is valved slightly firmer, has a zinc plated body, and still fits if you level the front later.
Does this fit a Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500?
No. These part numbers are for the 2500HD and 3500HD only.
How long does installation take?
Rears are 20 to 30 minutes per side. Fronts on the GM HD torsion bar suspension are a bolt-in shock, about 30 to 45 minutes per side, no spring compressor needed.
What is the warranty?
